The SO series is known for its quirky sense of humour, I found myself laughing out loud at some of the PAs, something that RPGs don’t tend to do, and the voice actors really shine during them and make them that much more enjoyable!Downsides to the PAs in TFD is that several of them had no particular ‘triggers’ to activating them. Any other characters in your party are controlled by the A.I. Since there’s thousand of ways to achieve each ending, you’ll be spending months achieving each one and have a ball of a time doing so! Overall, Star Ocean is a great, solid, classic RPG. I wouldn’t mind so much if the original Japanese version wasn’t fully V/O as well, but it was. I personally had no major qualms with the A.I. This is where the Private Action (PA) system comes in; during the game, before you enter a town, you’ll be given the option to press the Square button (the command is physically seen on screen), this splits your party before entering a town and allows you to talk to characters individually.
