I'd never previously read this first of LeCarré's books featuring unlikely spy George Smiley, but I'm on a mission to read them all in sequence in 2020 and it seemed like a logical place to begin. I only discovered Smiley recently and he is becoming a firm favourite. I think I will continue with the series to see what Mr. George Smiley gets mixed up in next!
